Product Description
The Broadcom P411W-32P is a fully managed PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe switch adapter built around Broadcom's PEX88048 PCIe switch chip — not a RAID controller, but a standards-based way to fan a single x16 PCIe Gen 4.0 host connection out to flexible downstream NVMe drive attachments (up to 8 x4, 16 x2, or 32 x1 SSDs) through four x8 SFF-8654 connectors. Native NVMe drivers on the host see each attached SSD directly, while the adapter's embedded management processor adds enterprise features unavailable with plain PCIe drive attach: true surprise add/remove without kernel panics, synthetic hierarchy with placeholder endpoints for hot-add, downstream port containment and read tracking to isolate faults, FRU inventory, hardware secure boot, SES-style LED control, and SFF-TA-1005 (UBM) backplane management. Supplied with validated firmware and out-of-band manageability over MCTP, the P411W-32P suits 1U and larger rack servers and towers needing dense, resilient NVMe SSD connectivity for acceleration and caching tiers.
